Abstract

Through a review of contemporary literature, case studies, and legal frameworks, this paper argues that traditional conceptions of student rights are insufficient to address these modern complexities. It explores the tensions between institutional authority and student autonomy, safety and free speech, and innovation and equity. The paper concludes by proposing a holistic, rights-based framework for educational policy, advocating for updated legal guidelines, enhanced institutional transparency, student-centered governance, and proactive equity initiatives to ensure that educational environments not only impart knowledge but also fundamentally respect and foster the dignity, agency, and development of all students.
