CHILD RIGHTS IN SCHOOLS: CAUSES OF VIOLATIONS AND PROTECTION STRATEGIES IN NIGERIA

Child rights protection in schools is a foundational component of quality education and sustainable development. Schools are expected to be safe, inclusive spaces that respect the dignity, freedom, and well-being of children. This study examines child rights protection in school settings, identifies causes and challenges of rights violations, and proposes evidence-based solutions. Drawing on recent empirical studies and international frameworks, it emphasizes that policy awareness, adequate resources, trained personnel, and active stakeholder engagement are crucial for effective protection. The research highlights persistent gaps in policy implementation, limited teacher training, and socio-cultural constraints as major hindrances and recommends strategies to address these through multi-stakeholder collaboration.
