THE RIGHTS OF CHILDREN AND TEACHERS’ LIABILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN CLASSROOMS

Abstract

The protection of children’s rights within the school environment has become an important issue in the Nigerian educational system. The study argues that protecting children’s rights in schools is essential for fostering students’ psychological well-being, academic engagement, and moral development. It therefore emphasizes the need for stronger teacher training programs, clear school policies on child protection, and collaborative efforts among teachers, parents, school administrators, and government agencies. Strengthening these measures will enhance teachers’ capacity to uphold children’s rights and promote safe classroom environments that support effective teaching and learning in Nigerian secondary schools.
