Abstract

Collective bargaining remains a cornerstone of industrial relations, providing a framework for dialogue between employers and employees to secure fair working conditions and resolve labor disputes.  This study examines the contemporary legal landscape governing collective bargaining in Nigeria, analyzing statutory provisions, judicial interpretations, and practical enforcement mechanisms. It also explores the impact of technological and global economic changes on labor relations. Findings suggest that while legal and institutional gaps hinder the optimal functioning of collective bargaining, strategic reforms and proactive engagement between stakeholders can create a more resilient and inclusive labor relations system. The study contributes to understanding how Nigerian labor law can adapt to modern work realities, balancing employee protections with industrial efficiency, and provides policy recommendations to strengthen collective bargaining frameworks in the 21st century.
