Students’ rights refer to the fundamental freedoms, protections, and entitlements guaranteed to learners within educational institutions. These rights are rooted in human rights principles and are essential for promoting equality, dignity, participation, and quality education. Despite their recognition in international conventions and national education policies, students’ rights continue to face numerous challenges in practice. Issues such as discrimination, lack of awareness of rights, unsafe learning environments, abuse of disciplinary power, exclusion of students with disabilities, and unequal access to educational resources persist across many educational systems. This paper examines the concept and major issues surrounding students’ rights, analyzes their causes and implications, and proposes practical solutions to strengthen rights protection. Using recent literature from 2020 to 2025, the study highlights the need for rights-based educational policies, effective enforcement mechanisms, and increased student participation in decision-making. The paper concludes that safeguarding students’ rights is essential for achieving equitable, inclusive, and quality education.
