Local radio broadcasts remain a vital medium for disseminating electoral information in rural and semi-urban communities in Nigeria, where access to other mass media is limited. This study examined the influence of local radio broadcasts on voter awareness and participation during the 2023 general elections in Adamawa State. Using a survey research design, data were collected from 384 respondents selected through multistage sampling across five local government areas. Findings revealed a high level of exposure to local radio stations such as NAS FM, Gotel FM, and Sunshine FM, with 78% of respondents reporting frequent listenership to voter education programs. A significant positive relationship was found between exposure to radio broadcasts and voter awareness (r = .652, p < .01) and actual voter turnout (β = .481, p < .05). The study concludes that local radio significantly enhances civic engagement in Adamawa State. Recommendations include sustained collaboration between INEC, local radio stations, and civil society organizations for future elections.
