SOURCES OF AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION AMONG PIG FARMERS IN ORLU AGRICULTURAL ZONE OF IMO STATE

Abstract

The study assesses the sources of agricultural information among the pig farmers. Orlu agricultural zone of Imo State was the area of the study. The entire pig farmers in the zone served as the population for the study but only 100 farmers were selected for information eliciting. The data for the study was obtained through the interview methods whose items border on the various sources of agricultural information. The data obtained was analyzed through the percentage method. The revealed that the pig farmers in the area sources for agricultural information through agro stores and friends/relatives mainly. It was recommended among others things that, public lecturers should be organized and sponsored by the state government, non-governmental organizations and private individuals, mass media houses should be encourage to transmit piggery information periodically, agro stores should be made information agents for piggery information by the state ministry of agriculture.
