DIGITALIZATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR MANAGERIAL EFFECTIVENESS IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

The study which aimed at investigating digitalization of school personnel management practices for managerial effectiveness in public secondary schools in Anambra State was anchored on two research questions and two hypotheses. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised all the public secondary school principals and teachers numbering 266 and 12,700 respectively. Multistage sampling technique was adopted to draw 148 principals (55%) and 1,702 teachers (65%) for the study. Self-designed instrument was drafted and entitled “Digitalization of School Personnel Management Practices Questionnaire “(DSPMPQ) for data collection. The validity of the instrument was certified through expert reviews. Test re-test method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. The results were subjected to Pearson Moment Correlation statistics which yielded the index value of 0.83 which was considered appropriate for the study. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while t-test statistics was utilized for null hypotheses testing using the t-critical of 1.96 as the benchmark. Distribution of the instrument for data collection was done by the research along with three trained research assistants. The study revealed among others that digitalization of school personnel management practices is skeletally applied in public secondary schools in Anambra State. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the appropriate authority should as a matter of necessity install required devices to engender digitalization of school personnel management practices for effective managerial effectiveness in this era of heightened technological advancement.
