Abstract

For sometime now, human resource development has become indispensable on Nigeria’s socio-economic agenda, particularly on her system wide public sector management reform. This research seeks to explore the strategies students can use for inspiring creativity for innovation and career development skills or practicum mindsets at the universal basic education (UBE) level. In other words, the paper is examined how basic education can be the stepping stone or the training of the career development skills learners to acquire sustainable development that th pool of unemeployed youths from non-graduates to grduates of higher institutions that could be manged through the skill of self-reliance. The paper further exmines problems and existing practice that are associated with career development skills in universal basic education programme. Finally, the paper drew up conclusion and made necessary recommendations to provide viable, as well a suistainable development in an economy of a developing nation.
