GREEN OFFICE DESIGN AND PRODUCTIVITY OF SECRETARIES IN BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS IN AWKA METROPOLIS OF ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA

The study assessed green office design and its effect on the productivity of Secretaries in business organizations in Awka Metropolis of Anambra State, Nigeria. Two specific objectives, and two research questions were posed. The study adopted correlational research design and was carried out in Awka metropolis, of Anambra State, Nigeria. The population of the study was 216 confidential office secretaries in selected business organizations in Awka metropolis. The entire population of 216 confidential office secretaries was used because of their small size. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire on Green Office Design and Productivity of Secretaries in Business Organizations (GODPSBO) which was developed from literature review for the study. The Questionnaire contained 17 item-statements. The instrument was validated by three experts: two in the field of Business Education and one in measurement and evaluation all in Nnamdi Azikiwe University. The reliability of the instrument was computed using Cronbach Alpha formula which yielded an aggregate reliability co-efficient of 0.82 for cluster A and 0.84 for cluster B, with an overall coefficient value of 0.89. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyze responses to the questionnaire items. The study revealed among others variation in the productivity of secretaries in business organizations because of the noisy office environment. The study also revealed that green office is a significant predictor of improved productivity by secretaries in business organizations.
