Abstract

This study examined the perceptions of sports administrators on the effects of inadequate sports coaches, funding and inadequate training on athlete's performance in Nigerian University Games (NUGA). Three research questions guided the study while three null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprised 234 sports administrators from Zones G and O of the Nigerian University Sports administrative zones comprising of sports managers, sports coaches, sports scholars and sports personalities. The research instrument used for data collections was a self-structured questionnaire developed by the researcher. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions posed for this study while t-test was used to test the null hypothesis. The study recommends recruitment of qualified coaches, increased funding and provision of modern training facilities to enable adequate training and enhance athlete performance.
