Abstract

The main purpose of the study was to determine business educators’ perception towards the use of Artificial intelligence as an effective tool for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study and two hypotheses were tested. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised 108 business educators in tertiary institutions. A validated structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. The instrument yielded reliability co-efficient of 0.88. Mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA was used to analyze data. The finding of the study revealed that business educators opined that artificial intelligence is an effective tool for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. The finding of the study revealed that irregular power supply, high cost of AI tools, lack of ICT infrastructure to support AI integration and resistance towards the adoption of AI for teaching in business education among others are some of the challenges inhibiting the use of artificial intelligence as an effective tool for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions in Anambra State.  Age and computer self-efficacy influenced business educators’ opinions. Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that AI is an effective tool for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. The researcher therefore recommended that Government at all levels and private proprietors of tertiary institutions offering business education should allocate funds for acquiring infrastructure, including both hardware and software, to facilitate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in business education programme
