Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the sports industry, transforming both performance optimisation and management practices. This paper explores AI’s diverse applications in sports, including athlete training, injury prevention, fan engagement, and facility management. AI-powered wearable technology and data analytics have enhanced performance monitoring and personalised training plans, reducing injury risks and improving game strategies. AI-driven video analysis tools provide real-time insights for coaches and analysts, optimising tactical decision-making. AI-integrated Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have redefined fan engagement, creating immersive experiences that enhance spectator interaction. In sports facility management, AI contributes to smart stadiums, energy efficiency, security, and dynamic ticketing systems. While AI presents significant advancements, challenges such as data privacy, ethical concerns, and accessibility remain critical. The paper concludes that AI’s continued integration will shape the future of sports, necessitating strategic implementation and responsible governance to maximise its potential while preserving human intuition in decision-making.
