Abstract

This study examined school innovative practices for quality teaching and students’ academic performance of public senior secondary schools in Lagos State Education Distrait V. five research questions and five research hypotheses guided this study. Descriptive survey and correlation research design was adopted for this study. The study population comprises of all public senior secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V. A sample of 224 respondents was selected using simple and purposive sampling techniques. A self-designed questionnaire titled Innovative Practices for quality teacher and student academic performance on a scale of four points was used as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated through face and content validity while the reliability coefficient was established at 0.79. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) of inferential statistical method was used to analyse the formulated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significant. Findings from the study shows that, there is a significant relationship between peer teaching and students’ academic performance (r = ,0.366;N=224: p< 05), there is a significant relationship between personalized teaching and students’ academic performance (r = 0.452: N=224; p< 05), there is a significant relationship between Cloud Computing and students’ academic performance, (r = 0.338; N=224; p< .05), there is a significant relationship between VR Technology and students’ academic performance (r = 0.309; N=224; p< .05), there is a significant relationship between Inquiry Based Learning and students’ academic performance, (r = 0.309; N=224; p< .05).The study concluded that there is positive significant relationship between innovation practices and students’ academic performance of public senior secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V.
