Management of Entrepreneurship Education Programme as Determinant of Skills Acquisition and Job Creation among Senior Secondary School students

Abstract

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in national development. In Nigeria, it is integrated into the secondary education curriculum to equip school graduates with self-reliance skills. However, despite this initiative, graduate unemployment continues to rise, raising concerns among stakeholders. This study examined how managing entrepreneurship education enhances skills acquisition and job creation among Senior Secondary School students in Boki Local Government Area, Cross River State. A descriptive survey design was used, with a sample of 259 students selected from a population of 2,259 using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a self-designed 24-item questionnaire, and reliability was established through Cronbach’s Alpha with a coefficient of .81 and .86 respectively. Pearson correlation analysis was employed to text the hypothesis at a .05 significance level. The result of the analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between entrepreneurship education management, skills acquisition, and job creation. The study concluded that effective programme management enhances student entrepreneurship potential. It was recommended among others that secondary school should strengthen the administration of entrepreneurship education to boost job creation among secondary school products
