SOURCES OF PRODUCTIVE RESOURCES AMONG THE RICE FARMERS BENEFICIARIES OF THE AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAIN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

The study aims at investigating into the sources of agricultural productive resources among the rice farmer beneficiaries of the agricultural value chain development programme in Anambra State. The study investigated sources of farm land, farm labour, agri input, funds. The population for the study comprised of all the rice farmers beneficiaries of the programme in the state. 240 of rice farmers were randomly sampled from across the state. A structured interview was designed and used to obtain information from the farmers. Data for the study was analysised was through descriptive statistic tools of frequency count, percentage and mean score. The study showed among others that a greater proportion (45.00%) of the farmers sourced are used communal land for value chain development programme. It was recommended among other that the problem of inadequate farm machineries should be addressed by the government in corroboration with other stakeholders involved in the programme. This can be achieved by establishing a mutual agreement with the relevant manufacturing companies that can provide the relevant rice production machineries needed by the paddy rice farmers.
