CONSTRAINTS TO THE ADOPTION OF MASS MEDIA AS SOURCES OF AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION AMONG FARMERS IN IMO STATE

Abstract

The study investigated the constraints to the adoption of mass media as a source of agricultural information among farmers in Imo State. All the farmers in Imo State make up the population and for only 100 farmers from Orlu were randomly selected for as sample size. The data for the study was obtained through the use of structured questionnaire which item bother the constraints. The data collected were analyzed through the percentage method. The result reveals among other things that poor power supply, information not reflecting the immediate needs of the farmers were major constraints to the farmers in adopting mass media sources and the study recommends among others that there is need for constant power supply, this will help in easy usage of the mass media and also enables media houses in proper delivery and effective dissemination of information.
